The condition of major thoroughfares and side streets throughout the Greensboro area has significantly improved from yesterday. The parking lots at the Greensboro Coliseum complex have been treated and significant melting has occurred due to sunny conditions today.

**THIS MESSAGE PERTAINS ONLY TO GREEN & GROWIN’ ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 18, 2018.

Dear Green and Growin’ 18 Attendees & Exhibitors,

Thank you for your patience as we continue to monitor the effects of Winter Storm Inga across the state of North Carolina. Below are two updates with regards to Green & Growin’ activities for THURSDAY, JANUARY 18, 2018:

1. Schedule Changes for Green & Growin’ Activities for Thursday, January 18, 2018
2. Statewide State of Emergency / Potential Refunds

IMPORTANT: We urge you to heed the advisories and warnings with regards to road conditions that have been made by public officials in your area. The safety of attendees, exhibitors and volunteers continues to be our first and foremost concern. Please exercise caution before traveling to Greensboro for Green & Growin’ tomorrow or Friday.

For more information on current road conditions, please visit www.drivenc.gov for the NC Department of Transportation’s road condition map. If you cannot travel to Greensboro tomorrow due to road conditions in your area, please see the bottom of this message with regards to potential refunds.

1. Schedule Changes for Green & Growin’ Activities for Thursday, January 18, 2018

The NCNLA Board of Directors met this afternoon to evaluate contingency plans. After consulting with staff at the Greensboro Coliseum and the Sheraton Greensboro, the NCNLA Board of Directors has made the following decisions:

  • NCNLA Annual Meeting & Member Breakfast – NCNLA’s Annual Meeting & Member Breakfast, originally scheduled for tomorrow morning at 7:30 AM, has been RESCHEDULED for Friday, January 19, 2018. The Annual Meeting will now take place on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 7:30 AM at the Special Events Center at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.
  • Green & Growin’ Marketplace Trade Show – The Green & Growin’ Marketplace WILL PROCEED ON-TIME, AS SCHEDULED. Marketplace Hours for tomorrow, January 18, 2018 are from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Please note that onsite Marketplace Registration will not open until 9:00 AM.

The Green & Growin’ Marketplace will also be open on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Marketplace admission does cover both Thursday and Friday of the event, so we hope to see you in Greensboro once the snow melts and road conditions improve.

NCNLA wishes to sincerely thank exhibitors that were able to move-in on Tuesday as opposed to today. By doing so, there are only a handful of booths that have not yet been moved-in. When attendees arrive at the Marketplace either tomorrow or Friday, there will be plenty of plants, landscape supplies and business solutions for you to shop.

2. Statewide State of Emergency / Potential Refunds

As mentioned in yesterday’s inclement weather update, NCNLA cannot provide a 100% guarantee for refunds for those that were unable to attend today’s Educational sessions or exhibitors that were unable to travel to Move-In today.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper’s declaration of a statewide State of Emergency substantially improves our chance of success in submitting insurance claims for potential refunds on your behalf. Please note that this only applies to individuals that were/are unable to attend scheduled Green & Growin’ events either today or tomorrow.

We will provide you with steps to follow if you wish to request a refund in the box below this message. Please remember that we will be working with an insurance company, so it may take weeks or months for claims to be resolved. NCNLA thanks you in advance for your patience as we work with you and our insurer on potential restitution.

Again, we understand that there will be a number of questions about next steps. Please understand that all five members of NCNLA staff are on-site at the show and are carrying out their assignments with regards to the event. Please be patient with regards to a response while we are onsite at the show. We will do our very best to get back to you in a timely manner.

Thank you again for your continued patience with regards to contingencies for tomorrow’s Green & Growin’ activities. We will continue to provide updates for attendees and exhibitors through these communication vehicles as conditions warrant.

Sincerely,

NCNLA

**THIS MESSAGE PERTAINS ONLY TO GREEN AND GROWIN’ ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 17, 2018**

Dear Green and Growin’ 18 Attendees & Exhibitors,

The Board and staff of the North Carolina Nursery & Landscape Association (NCNLA) have been monitoring the forecast for the possibility of a winter weather event during Green & Growin’ on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. The Board of Directors met this evening to evaluate contingency plans in the event of weather tomorrow.

Obviously, we would have preferred to get information out sooner, but there are many different considerations to take into account as it relates to the safety of attendees, exhibitors and volunteers. Safety is our first and foremost concern. Thank you for your continued patience as we sort through contingency planning at both the Education and Marketplace venues.

After consulting with staff at the Greensboro Coliseum, the Sheraton Greensboro and NCNLA’s event insurance company, the NCNLA Board of Directors has made the following decisions:

· Green & Growin’ Education: Education on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 WILL PROCEED as scheduled. We have confirmed that speakers will be here tomorrow, so those that are able to attend Education tomorrow will be able to do so. We ask that attendees not staying onsite at the Sheraton Greensboro travel safely tomorrow morning. Education hours tomorrow are from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

· Green & Growin’ Marketplace: Move-in for the Green & Growin’ Marketplace on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 WILL PROCEED as scheduled. Move-in hours will be from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM. We would ask that exhibitors who have yet to move-in be cautious in their travels to the Coliseum. We ask for your patience as tomorrow will most certainly be a challenging day for our all-volunteer move-in crew.

If you are unable to attend education tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, 2018: Understandably, NCNLA has received numerous inquiries about the possibility of refunds in the event of winter weather. NCNLA is still liable for the full costs of holding the event at the Hotel, even in the event of cancellation. Thus, our ability to offer partial or full refunds for education registrations will be wholly contingent upon acceptance of our claim by NCNLA’s event insurer.

Accordingly, NCNLA CANNOT GUARANTEE REFUNDS. Further, any insurance claim made by NCNLA on your behalf may take months to resolve.

If you are unable to attend education tomorrow due to unsafe road conditions and wish to request a refund, please take the following steps:

1.) Please submit a written request (via email) to Cody Lewis, NCNLA Director of Finance & Administration, at clewis@ncnla.com.

2.) When submitting your request, please provide the reason that you are unable to attend Green & Growin’ on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

3.) If possible, please submit this written request by forwarding your electronic receipt that you received when you registered for Green & Growin’.

Finally, we understand that there will be a number of questions about next steps. All five members of NCNLA staff are on-site at the show and will also be carrying out their assignments with regards to the event. Please be patient with regards to a response while we are onsite at the show. We will do our very best to get back to you in a timely manner.

Thank you for your continued patience with regards to contingencies for tomorrow’s Green & Growin’ activities. We will continue to provide updates for attendees and exhibitors through these communication vehicles as conditions warrant.

Sincerely,

NCNLA
